Today we had a great day getting to know each other! We learned about volcanoes and tikis. Then, we made a Tiki About Me. Later in the day we worked on programming.
Today was a perfect day for learning about pirates and QR codes. The campers had fun going on a scavenger hunt and creating their own pirate. The students included a QR code on their picture. If you do not have a QR code reader already installed on your phone or tablet, there are many great, free apps available. Download the app and scan your child's work to hear where they would hide their treasure!
The theme for today was fairy tales. The students in the younger group created a short and silly fairy tale book. The students in the older group worked together to create one story book for the class. We will send a copy of the book home tomorrow. All of the stories turned out great!
Another activity the younger group completed was using augmented reality. The campers were able to color a coloring sheet. Then, they scanned it with a special app that makes the images come to life and look 3D! The app is Quiver, it used to be colAR mix, it is available on both android and apple devices. The app is free and there are at least 10 free coloring sheets. There are also other packs of coloring sheets you can purchase through the app.
Today's theme for computer camp was insects. We learned about insects and went searching for insects around Kehoe-France. We found many interesting creatures on our adventure. Later, we created a project about if we were as small as bugs!
We had a fantastic last day of camp! The week really flew by! Our theme today was mysteries. We learned about fingerprinting and dusting for prints. We also created Wanted posters.
